These medals of the St. Gallen family Zollikofer von Altenklingen were distributed by the family to relatives, friends and employees. Thanks to their virtually unrivaled linen manufactories, the Zollikofers established a form of civic dominion that endured until 1798. To this day, only eleven specimens of these exceedingly rare medals are known.
